OOTD: The Pug Life

Jumper - H&M - Sold out

Do you ever have one of them days where just feel plain lazy and can't be bothered?

Well, this is my 'lazy/casual' outfit for the days where I just cannot bear tottering around in little heels and want to feel comfortable and relaxed. My favourite part of this outfit has to be the pug jumper. I am absolutely obsessed with pugs... Did you spot the calendar on my wall? I came across this jumper on the H&M website and was so gutted when I saw it had completely sold out! I literally raced down to my local store hoping and praying they would have some left. It was definitely meant to be... there was ONE jumper left, and it was in my size. Hooray! I think the classic denim ripped jeans and converse trainers compliment this outfit perfectly for that stylish, chilled vibe. If I'm wanting a more sophisticated look, I tend to ditch the trainers and slip on a pair of classic wedge heels. This is perfect for running your daily errands in pure comfort and style.

Liebster Award

I am incredibly grateful and excited to announce that I have recently been nominated TWICE for the Liebster Award. It's really nice to know that people are starting to take notice of my blog and actually read my posts. A big thank you to the lovely Vanessa from Dream In Style and Yamel from Smil3z and Style for tagging me!

For those of you that don't know, the Liebster Award is to give recognition to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.

Blogging is about building a community and this tag is a great way to connect with other writers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs. Once you have been nominated, you must follow these rules:

1) Link the blogger(s) that nominated you.
2) Answer the questions that the tagger set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.
3) Choose 5-11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers and link them in your post.
4) Go to their page and tell them.

Since I was tagged by two lovely ladies, I decided to answer Vanessa's questions (just because she was the first to nominate me) :

1. What is your 'Holy Grail' beauty item? I've recently discovered Benefit's High Beam and honestly couldn't live without this product right now. When applying to the top of my cheeks, it gives off an instant glow, making my skin appear flawless. It's also perfect for contouring cheekbones and defining your facial features.

2. What is your dream vacation destination? Anywhere with a white sandy beach running along crystal blue ocean. I'd love to visit the Maldives, it looks so luxurious in every picture I see! Anyone want to take me? :)

3. When it comes to fashion are you someone who gravitates towards solid or printed clothing items? If I'm honest, I normally stick to block colours as it's so much easier to create a whole range of different looks. I tend to wear a plain base, then jazz up my outfits with a printed jacket or clutch bag (preferably leopard print!)

4. Why did you decide to start your blog? I actually have a degree in Journalism, so have loved writing ever since I can remember. Since leaving University last summer, I landed myself a job as an Advertising Executive and I don't really get the chance to do what I loveI've always been obsessed with fashion & beauty blogs, and have been contemplating setting up my own but could never set the time aside. I woke up one morning and decided there and then I was going to make time to set my blog up... And here I am :)

5. What is your favourite perfume? My ultimate favourite perfume has to be Ghost - Sweetheart. It has a warm, sweet and fruity scent... I literally can't get enough of it. I always get tons of the stuff for Christmas, so I'm left smelling fresh for the whole year!

6. What is your favourite movie? Hmmm, I absolutely love classic comedy films such as Step Brothers, Anchorman and Bridesmaids... They never fail to make me chuckle! I'm also into my chick flicks e.g Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually, Dirty Dancing. I'm not a massive cinema goer, so normally stick with watching classics movies whenever they are repeated on tele.

7. Who is your favourite blogger? LLYMLRS. I religiously check her blog everyday - I love her casual & chic style. Also, I love the fact that she posts on a whole load of different topics and doesn't just stick to Beauty and Fashion. She seems like a really likeable, down-to-earth girl and I love reading her chatty posts.

8. If you could only wear three makeup products for the rest of your life, what would they be?  Youuuuch! I hope this NEVER happens. But if I had to chose, I'd say my Benefit They're Real Mascara, my fave MAC Lovelorn' lippy and my trusty MAC eyebrow pencil!

9. Have you ever met a celebrity, if so who? Yes! Whilst at Uni, I was lucky enough to intern at Now Magazine for two months (most amazing experience EVER!). During my internship, I was invited to Amy Childs clothing launch and got to interview her for the mag. Oh shataaaaap. I also got to work on a photo shoot with the Union J boys for the afternoon. They are SO lovely, and even fitter in real life! Oh, and I bumped into Gok Wan on a night out in Soho. I got my picture taken with him too. Pretty cool, huh?

10. Do you keep a diary? I keep a date diary, but not a personal one. I think the last diary I had was a Winnie the Pooh notebook with a list of all my school crushes. Cringe.

11. What is your favourite season and why? Summer, Summer, Summer! It's weird how a huge ball of fire in the middle of the galaxy can instantly put everyone in a better mood?! It's the season of holidays, BBQS, parties, late evenings and hot weather! What's not to love? All I can say is roll on Summer '14...

The blogs I nominate are:

And here are my questions for you lovely lot:

1. What’s the one bit of advice you would give to someone starting a new blog?
2. Who inspires you?
3. Where in the world would you most like to live?
4. What do you do in your day job?
5. If you could only eat one meal everyday for the rest of your life what would it be?
6. Besides blogging, what’s your favourite thing to do?
7. What's your favourite type of music?
8. How would you describe your style?
9. If you could be anything in the world, what would you be?
10. What is your one beauty must-have?
11. If you could ban a word or phrase from ever being used again, what would it be?

Wow, I ramble on way too much! :)
If I've nominated you, make sure you let me know once your post is up so I can read your answers! Once again, a massive to Vanessa and Yamel for tagging me.

Real Techniques Make Up Brushes

Yay! My Real Techniques brushes have finally arrived! I've been wanting these for so long now. I already own the Real Techniques Foundation Brush, which I got from Boots some time ago, and it is honestly one of the best brushes I've ever owned.

As most of you know, Real Techniques is a make-up brush brand by beauty guru Samantha Chapman at Pixiwoo. The brushes use synthetic hair, which not only means they are 100% cruelty free but they are extremely soft to help create a flawless, high-definition look. I absolutely love the appearance of these brushes - the gold & pink metallic finish make them look really sophisticated. The white tips also mean that you can keep your brushes super clean and hygenic, as you'll be able to tell when they're really dirty!

I purchased these brushes via a website called iHerb, which is based in the US. I came across the site and noticed that you could obtain brushes a lot cheaper than here in the UK. In total, I paid £27 for the lot. If I had bought these from my local Boots, it would have cost me £44.97. After ordering, my package landed in the UK just three days later. Admittedly, there was a bit of a dispute with DHL because my parcel got delivered to the wrong address by the driver (!), but my brand new brushes landed on my doorstep in a total of five days.

Contour Brush (Core Collection): This brush definitely lives up to it's name - the full and plush texture means you can apply bronzing and highlighting powders accurately to define your features. I normally use Benefit Hoola Powder when contouring, but the random brush provided often makes my face look patchy. After investing in this baby, that horrible little brush provided by Benefit is long gone!

Pointed Foundation Brush (Core Collection): Personally, I found this brush a bit too small for applying foundation - I would be in front of the mirror for hours! However, it makes a great highlighting tool for under my brow and cheek bones as it is very precise.

Detailer Brush (Core Collection): When I took this teeny tiny little brush out of the packaging for the first time, I thought to myself... What on earth could I possibly use this for? Since I don't wear concealer, I find this brush a bit redundant from my everyday make up routine. However, it can be used for touching up the edge of your lipstick and applying eyeshadow to the inner corners.

Buffing Brush (Core Collection): I was so excited to use this brush as I have heard such good things about it. And wow, it certinately lived up to my high expectation! This brush is fabulously well-balanced in density and flexibility, which makes it perfect for blending my liquid foundation without leaving any streaks. It provides a natural and even finish. This has definitely pushed my old foundation brush out of my collection!

Powder BrushNow this is the biggest brush of the whole collection, but don't be put off! Like all of the Real Techniques brushes, the bristles are super soft and feel like satin against my skin. Just one swirl around my loose powder and it picks up enough product to effortlessly cover my whole face.

Blush Brush: This has a lot more movement compared to the rest of the brushes and it really easy to use with powder blush. The size and shape of this brush provides a natural flushed looked and perfectly blends my blusher across the apples of my cheeks without making me look like a clown!

If you decide you want to jump on the Real Techniques bandwagon, I highly recommend ordering from iHerb. Make sure you enter the code BCR859 at the checkout to bag yourself $10 off all orders over $40, or $5 off all orders under.... You're welcome :)

I'm so happy that I finally have these brushes in my life! What's your favourite Real Techniques brush?

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

For the past year or so, I have religiously used MAC foundation day in and day out. I found that most drugstore foundations made my skin appear blotchy and slightly orange, which means the colour of my face and neck wouldn't match up properly! When I started using the MAC Studio Fix Fluid, I honestly thought I would never step away, It gives such a flawless coverage and I will always stand by this product, despite the slightly expensive price tag. However, as the spring season creeps upon us, I feel that my MAC foundation may be a bit too heavy for warmer days and I'm currently craving something lighter which will allow my skin to breathe.

I've stumbled across tons of reviews on Rimmel's Wake Me Up Foundation, so thought I would give it a whirl! I must admit, I haven't really payed much attention to drugstore foundations over recent years... I was so surprised by all the unfamiliar bottles on display in my local Boots store. However, this bottle stood out instantly due to the bright orange bottle lid - such a lovely touch and instantly made me think of summer. Also, I like the fact it comes in a glass bottle as it appears more luxurious than most high street foundation.

The first thing I noticed when applying the liquid was its gorgeous scent. I guess most make up out there isn't meant to smell particularly good, but this one tickled my senses nicely. It is quite a creamy texture and applies lightly onto my skin - it makes such a difference after using a heavy matte foundation for so long. The bottle claims that the foundation will provide you with an "anti-fatigue effect and radiant glow", and I must say, it definitely lived up to it's word. The liquid contains teeny tiny sparkles, which helps to give an instant flawless lookSurprisingly, coverage lasts most of the day. I tend to add a slight dusting of my trusty MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder in the afternoon to keep my face looking immaculate.

It's fair to say that my faith in drugstore base make-up has been restored, thanks to this little beauty! What's your favourite foundation on the high street?
